When pressed further, the illogicality of the argument is usually compounded by, “Well, I didn’t like the last new one!” There is an additional factor in verse 14, for God knows the power He will grant. When He conscripts, He enables. When He sends, He equips. That’s why it would be sheer stupidity to call ourselves into God’s service, or to venture out into the spiritual battle without His clear commissioning.
